Craig Chaquico's Notes on Acoustic Planet.
Native Tongue (New At Two):
I hope to speak your language well
Though I love just hearing you talk
Because the sound of your voice is like a song
And your melodies tell me stories
A native tongue spinning a tale
Soon becomes a part of the theme
Thanks for letting me be with you
And 4 inspiring this music
If you are the sky then I am a bird
That flies on acoustic wings
And it all got started the first time we met
When we were both new at two
Winterflame:
Only the crescent moon and clouds glowing in the winter sky
Still whisper about what we did
Those summer nights
You must have had the whole Milkyway on your lips
Because I saw stars every time we kissed
And now, seen in every winter fire, is a mystery
Of what is, what was, and what could never be . . .
If the winter itself could ever look into our eyes
Would it still see the flame?
Find Your Way Back:
You can leave a message with the rain
Or find me anywhere the wind blows
And if I hear you call my name
I'll find my way back
To your heart
Gathering Of The Tribes:
An arrowhead points to the dusty ruins
Of the Chaco Canyon Sundagger,
And spear tips lie deep beneath the sighs
Of the vanishing medicine forest
While computer screens hum and flicker
On desks high above this crystal city
Scents of sandalwood and incense
Still drift along our river trail
Somewhere between karma and coincidence
Between science and spirituality
is a place where we all must sit down
To a banquet of consequences
Among the gathering of the tribes
The Greywolf Hunts Again:
Legend says, sometimes a wolf is born to a pack of jackals
But the young wolf soon departs from their ways
Sensing this, the jackals try and kill it
Sometimes this must makes the wolf grow stronger
And when the wolf survives
Let the jackals beware
When the odds are against us
And yet we still survive
It's nice to know we are not alone
And that the greywolf hunts again
Añejo De Cabo:
The canyons echoed
With the sound of thounder
While a Calabasas sun
Tanned two young lovers
Iron horses waited
Smiling outside the cantina
A smile, a wink, and a toast to it all
With a little Aņejo tequila
Just One World:
Your city lays like a blanket of stars
Neon veins glow with a zillion cars
A meteor shoots across the pre-dawn sky
High above today's morning drive
Aboriginal campfires can be seen naked-eyed
Through aurora borealis curtains we fly
through another day and night's fluorescent embrace.
And a new star joins the highway in space
Sparkling above just one world
In July 1994, a digital recording of Craig Chaquico's "Just One World" was
launched into space on a NASA rocket as part of the Space Ark program.
Center Of Courage (E-lizabeth's Song):
Fear knocked at the door
Faith answered and no one was there
To the Courage Centers everywhere --
Lee's in Minneapolis, Lane's in San Francisco
Maria's in Chicago, and the ones in all our hearts
To Dr. "E-lizabeth" and the parents
Of the 12 year old boy who encouraged him
to keep playing that high E-string on his acoustic guitar
With little fingers sticking out of plaster casts
Acoustic Planet:
Dancing in harmony with the symphony of the spheres
Sunfather, Moonsister, Earthmother, and Skybrother
Smiled at the birth of the blue and green world's children
And on those who remember
It doesn't belong to us
We belong to it
