OFFICIAL CRAIG CHAQUICO FAN CLUB

Gathering of the Tribes
Spring 2003 Vol. 2 Issue I
MESSAGE FROM CRAIG
Hello, fan club members, spring is here, and it's amazing to think that one year ago the fan club was just kicking off. Thank you all for making it such a wonderful success, what a difference a year makes!
It's also been one year since the release of Shadow and Light. Again, where has the time gone? Thanks for making Café Carnival (sax in the sun remix), Luminosa, and Afterglow, such great hits...amazing!
Thank you all for the kind, heartfelt enthusiastic support and encouragement, without that we never would have achieved two #1 National Smooth Jazz hits in a row at radio! We couldn't have done it without you all!
As I mentioned in the last newsletter, I am currently in the studio working on my next musical project. Ozzie, the band and I have a few surprises recorded already. If you've seen the live show recently you may already have a hint of some of the new of the elements we will include on the new recording! Thank you all for your many inspirations on tour, and for so many of the ideas that we came up with onstage while we were playing for you all last year!
Also on the new CD, there may be a vocal track we've been working on with my old friend, keyboardist, writer, and producer, Peter Wolf! Peter came to a show in Santa Barbara where I played, and had William Aura and Craig Dobbin from 3rd Force do a song with me too. Right after the show we started talking about the Jefferson Starship and Starship days when Peter wrote and produced some of our biggest hits.
Songs like We Built This City, Sara, and No Way Out were all done by Peter, with me and the Starship gang by then. So, we decided to see what we could come up with at Peter's killer studio in Malibu...right above where they film Baywatch! In between Peter doing Joe Pass's new CD, Natalie Cole's huge radio hit recently, and huge radio hits in Japan and Europe, Peter wrote a cool song we may put on the next CD!
By the way, Lil and Leslie and I were thinking how would it be for one of the Gathering of the Tribes members' to come up with a name for one of our new songs? Might be kinda hard if you haven't heard anything yet, but a great title is a great title, and it would be so cool if it came from one of the "Tribe Members"! Maybe it's the CD title, who knows? We thought we would just throw that out there and see if any of you had any cool titles we could use. Maybe we'd have a contest or something and the winner gets to name the song. Of course, if it's a girls name, and it's a love song, I might have a hard time explaining that, unless the name is Lillian, Leslie or Kimberly! Ha ha! Please give the song or CD title a thought and let us know what you can come up with ok. Thanks in advance, I can't wait to hear your ideas!
We're kicking off a brand new season of touring, so look for us in a city near you soon. Who knows, you might get a sneak preview of one of the new songs! I look forward to seeing you all out on the road, keep those questions and caption entries coming!
Many smiles to you all till then!
Craig
