| The Family Way With a new hit single, "Find Your Way Back," a successful LP, "Modern Times" (Grunt Records), and the homecoming of Grace Slick, Jefferson Starship is once again a talked about band. Happier than anyone in the group is lead guitarist Craig Chaquico, who, at 26, has been with the group over a decade. "I started playing with them in 1970," he told us. But what pleases him most is the fact that he wrote their current smash single. "That's a first for me, and it gives me a certain amount of personal satisfaction. I thought the song could be a single, but didn't want to say anything. I wanted them to discover it for themselves. And they did. "We asked Chaquico if, indeed, the Starship is one big inseparable family. "Well, we refer to the band as a family, but we dont live together or hang out with each other--which is probably why we've been together so long." |
